How many waiters do I need for my event?
The number of waiters you need will depend on the style of the meal and the number of guests that are attending. If you're planning a formal, multi-course meal it is best to have 1 to 2 waiters per every 15 guests. If you are having a simple meal or buffet, 1 waiter per 25 guests is preferred.
What will the waitstaff be wearing?
The typical waitstaff attire is all black and consists of a black dress shirt, black pants, black vest and tie with black socks and black shoes. Another common outfit is a white dress shirt, black tie, black pants, and black shoes only upon request.
What’s the difference between a waitstaff and a server?
A server is someone with the specific task of serving a customer/table while a waitstaff is the collective group of workers who handle a variety of tasks during a meal. Servers focus on the customers by taking food and drink orders. Waitstaff will include servers but they also provide general assistance before, during, and after the meal such as tending to the buffet, setting tables, clearing away plates and glasses, and taking out the trash.
